You don’t have
to love animals
to not eat them
Just like you don’t
have to love your noisy,
disrespectful neighbor
to not cut him
into pieces and
dip him in mustard
Not killing someone
is not a negotiated
response based on
whether you find
them likable
Or whether you think
they are cute
And let’s face it,
if we’re being honest,
some of y’all
ain’t looking so adorable
anymore either
A perceived deficiency
in intelligence
doesn’t justify ending
a coworker’s life
Not killing someone
isn’t a privilege earned
by passing
arbitrary standards
of importance,
it is just the basic
starting point
of human decency
