We sit in the senate
so proud and so male,
so straight and so Christian,
so old and so pale
We men sit around and
control women’s choices
We don’t even bother
listening to their voices
We cover up sex crimes,
accuse the accusers
We paint as victims
the actual abusers
We disbelieve science
so our friends can have more
More yachts and more mansions
But hey, fuck the poor!
They never made a substantial
campaign contribution
We work for the billionaires,
lobbyists, institutions
So they don’t vote us out,
we keep them too tired to care,
too busy to pay attention,
too scared of warfare
We gerrymander districts,
suppress registrations,
to minimize dissent
from the non-Caucasians.
If a senator tries to shatter
our well maintained system,
we denounce it in unison,
shouting “Socialism!”
If our base starts to doubt us,
we just have some fun.
