While We Were Eating

“I love animals,”

proclaimed the dog owner,

while biting into pork

“Dolphins are incredible,”

concluded the passenger,

while digesting tuna salad

“Elephants should be protected,”

cried the worried couple,

while chewing roasted duck

“Horse meat in our food supply?!”

gasped the consumer,

while scarfing down a burger

“Birds are magnificent,”

exclaimed the birder,

while swallowing a chicken sandwich

“Breastfeeding is gross,”

argued the bystander,

while sipping on a milkshake

“No one should eat cats!”

denounced the veterinarian,

while feasting on rabbit stew

“Orcas deserve to be free,”

insisted the trainer,

while eating the legs of frogs
